Four-time Russian boxing champion Alexander Shkalikov died at the age of 55. This was announced on May 20 by the administration of the Kopeysky city district of the Chelyabinsk region.

"On May 20, Alexander Valentinovich Shkalikov, a Russian boxer and a master of sports of international class, passed away. He was 54 years old," the publication says on the website.

The administration stressed that the boxer's life was a significant page in the history of sports, and noted the dedication, perseverance, determination and perseverance of the athlete.

Shkalikov was born in 1970. He played for the Russian national team in the first half of the 90s, participated in the European and world championships. The athlete also holds the title of the silver medalist of the Goodwill Games in St. Petersburg and the International Master of Sports of Russia.

His first success as a boxer came in 1988 after winning the All-Russian Semyon Khokhryakov Memorial Tournament. The following year, he won the Vaclav Prohazka tournament in Czechoslovakia, and in 1990 he won the Felix Stamm Memorial Tournament in Poland.

In total, Shkalikov won about 240 victories in amateur Olympic boxing and was defeated only about 50 times. After completing his sports career, the boxer worked as a coach.
