An epidemiological investigation has been launched after the mass shawarma poisoning in Yegoryevsk. This was reported by the Office of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor). in the Moscow region on Tuesday, May 20.
The department clarified that the epidemiological investigation was initiated after the registration of 17 cases of acute intestinal infection (AKI).
"According to preliminary information, everyone ate shawarma at the Palate of the East catering company (IP Timokhina N.Y.), located at 20 Lenin Avenue, Yegoryevsk. Six people were hospitalized in the infectious diseases department," the Moscow City News agency quoted the message.
The department clarified that food samples were taken from the trade tent for laboratory tests at the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Moscow Region. The results of laboratory tests will be reported additionally.
"The activity of the trading tent has been suspended. The Voskresensk territorial Department of Management is preparing materials for transfer to the court. The epidemiological investigation is ongoing. The situation is under special control of Rospotrebnadzor," the agency concluded.
Earlier that day, 17 people, including seven children, sought medical help in Yegoryevsk after eating shawarma, writes RIAMO.
It is specified that their condition is assessed as moderate severity, writes Life.Ru .
In connection with the mass treatment of local residents with signs of poisoning, a criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Production, storage, transportation or sale of goods and products, performance of works or provision of services that do not meet safety requirements"), reports RT.
