- The Trump administration announced its intention to deport 200,000 Ukrainians from the United States.

The administration of US President Donald Trump intends to deport 200,000 Ukrainian refugees from the country who previously had temporary protection status. Washington offers refugees $1,000 each for voluntary departure from the country. This was announced on May 20 by The Washington Post (WP) with reference to the draft internal document.
These deportations will be funded from $250 million that was previously intended for foreign aid. It is also assumed that in addition to Ukrainians, 700,000 Haitian migrants will be deported.
It is clarified that the administration of former US President Joe Biden first granted temporary protected status to citizens of Ukraine in 2022 after the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine.
Haitians have enjoyed this status since 2010, when their country was hit by a devastating earthquake, and it has since been extended several times due to ongoing security concerns and instability in the region.
Earlier, on May 6, it was reported that the White House administration called on Ukraine to accept third-party citizens deported from the United States. Such a request indicates Trump's desire to protect the streets of his country from an increase in crime by curbing illegal migration.
