Explosives will be used to remove congestion on rivers during floods in Yakutia

In Yakutia, in the Srednekolymsky district, it was decided to carry out blasting operations in order to eliminate the ice jam and prevent flooding. This was reported in the operational headquarters of the republic.

The operation will be led by the head of the Regional Rescue Service, Innokenty Androsov. Specialists from the local search and rescue squad and explosives specialists from BVK Udacha Plus LLC will participate in it.

According to Androsov, quoted by the news agency " <url>", the specialists flew over the area, the situation is normal. Congestion is observed 15 km below the settlement near the Luobui area. They decided to eliminate him with explosives.

The operational group, which includes representatives of various specialized structures, operates around the clock. They monitor the water level and ice conditions. As of May 20, the water level near Srednekolymsk is 1,157 cm with a critical mark of 1,200 cm.

Earlier in Yakutia, the airport was closed due to flooding of the runway. This was caused by an ice drift on the Kolyma River. Flights between Zyryanka and Srednekolymsk are operated twice a week.
