Russia has completed tests of an upgraded boat for law enforcement agencies

The upgraded PKK-640.M1 boat was successfully tested in St. Petersburg. On May 20, TASS reported with reference to the Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ) holding.
"During the sea trials, representatives of the OTC department checked the operability of the new equipment and assessed the degree of possible negative impact of this equipment on the boat's performance," the company said.
The upgraded version of the boat received a reinforced transom, which made it possible to install a 200 horsepower engine. The boat is also equipped with an automatic anchor winch, which makes it possible to remotely lift and drop the anchor, which greatly simplifies operation in conditions of bad weather, strong winds and waves.
The boat is designed for inspection, patrolling and operational use as a traveling and rescue water transport.
It is noted that the modernization has improved the operational characteristics of the boat, increasing the comfort and safety of the crew.
Earlier, on February 3, Mikhail Danilenko, Managing director of KMZ, told Izvestia that a domestic power plant had begun to be developed for high-speed Russian border boats. As Danilenko noted, now the most common innovative power plants of boats or ships consist of a diesel engine, a propeller shaft, and an electric motor.
