Russians have revealed the main criteria for choosing new vacation destinations

18% of travelers from Russia choose only unexplored places on principle, while 34% more often try new destinations, but sometimes return to their favorite ones. Analysts of the Onlinetours tour aggregator told Izvestia about this on May 21.
They noted that 32% of respondents prefer proven vacation spots, while 16% do not take risks at all and rest only where they have already been.
When choosing a destination, the majority of tourists (38%) rely on their own experience. One in four (28%) trusts the recommendations of travel agents, and one in five listens to the advice of friends and relatives. Interestingly, the opinion of bloggers and influencers plays a role for only 3% of the respondents. At the same time, one third of travelers learn about new destinations from travel agencies.
Exotic countries such as Vietnam, China or Cuba are of interest to Russians.: 20% dream of visiting there, 42% consider them attractive, and 16% have already visited these destinations. Among lovers of new places, 36% prefer beach holidays, 29% choose sightseeing tours, 21% go shopping, and 14% prefer active recreation.
"The main factors for Russians to choose a new destination were price (55%), safety (47%) and climate (45%). But the culture and history of the country are of less importance to the respondents — three out of ten respondents highlighted this aspect," the study noted.
As for flights, 38% of tourists are ready to spend more than 10 hours on a plane to visit a new place. At the same time, 15% prefer routes no longer than five hours, and every third participant in the study avoids long flights altogether.
Earlier, on April 21, it was reported that the traditional beach holiday is gradually losing ground. Russians are increasingly interested in author tours from local residents (25%), sanatorium recreation (24%), railway routes (11%) and gastronomic trips (10%).
