The average summer temperature in Russia will exceed the climatic norm by two to three degrees, and new temperature records are expected to be set in some regions. Yandex Weather specialists told Izvestia about this on May 20.

It will be especially hot in the southern regions of the country. In the Krasnodar Territory and the Rostov Region, summer may become the hottest in the last 30 years, with peak temperatures in July. A similar situation is expected in Krasnoyarsk, where last year's temperature records may be exceeded in July and August.

The greatest temperature anomalies are predicted in the Arctic, one of the fastest—warming regions on the planet. Significant warming is expected in the waters of the Kara Sea and the Laptev Sea, as well as on the coasts of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Yakutia.

"Higher figures compared to last year are expected in the Far East: in Chukotka, Khabarovsk Territory, Magadan Region, Kamchatka, Sakhalin. Also, compared to 2024, it will be noticeably hotter in the Southern and Middle Urals, in the Yamalo-Nenets and Nenets Autonomous Districts," the meteorologists said.

Precipitation in the summer of 2025 will be significantly less than the climatic norm in most regions of the European part of Russia. In the Rostov region, the amount of rain may decrease by three times compared to the average values, amounting to only about 40 mm. In Volgograd, Krasnodar and Voronezh, precipitation will be two times less than usual, and in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and St. Petersburg - 1.5 times.

Drought is also expected in other regions: in Perm, Ufa, Samara, Krasnoyarsk and Kazan, precipitation will also be below normal. July will be especially dry in the Volga region and the Perm Region, and in Krasnoyarsk and Samara, the rain deficit will appear in June.

"Beyond the Urals, a noticeable decrease in precipitation relative to normal is predicted in the Kemerovo Region, the Altai Territory, the republics of Altai, Khakassia and Tyva, as well as in the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory," the experts added.

At the same time, in Siberia and the Far East, with the exception of some southern territories, precipitation will exceed long-term averages. More rain is expected in Kamchatka, the Northern and Middle Kuril Islands, the Amur Region, the Trans-Baikal Territory and the southern regions of the Khabarovsk Territory.

In Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Chelyabinsk and Omsk, precipitation is expected to be within the climatic norm, which will be in contrast to the abnormally rainy last year in these regions.

Earlier, on May 19, Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center, spoke about the establishment of summer weather in the Moscow region by the end of this week. According to him, the temperature will rise on Wednesday, May 21, and by the end of the working week it will reach +22 ... +24 degrees. June, the expert said, may start with a 30-degree heat wave.
