- The Mayor of Mariupol announced the possible creation of a post-industrial park at Azovstal

A post-industrial park may be created on the territory of the Azovstal plant in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was announced on May 20 by the Mayor of Mariupol Oleg Morgun.
"The conversation for Azovstal is that there is nothing much to restore, because the plant has suffered a lot. <...> There may be a post—industrial park," he told RIA Novosti.
The mayor stressed the need to complete the mine clearance of the plant's territory before any reconstruction actions can be taken - ammunition and weapons are still being found at the enterprise.
In addition, Morgun said that after the completion of the relevant work, there will be an opportunity for the development of small industries and the implementation of the idea of a post-industrial park. However, this will require the consent of the federal authorities and the government (DPR).
In May 2022, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported on the complete liberation of Mariupol and the surrender of 2,439 militants of the Azov neo-Nazi group (recognized as terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation) who were hiding on the territory of the Azovstal plant. Then it was reported that the company could not be restored.
Later, in May 2024, the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, already expressed the idea of creating small enterprises on the territory of the plant.
