The defender of the National Hockey League (NHL) hockey club was detained in the USA Alexander Alekseev's Washington Capitals, the incident occurred on the night of May 18 in Arlington County. This was reported on May 20 by The Washington Post (WP) newspaper with reference to the local police.

It is specified that the police responded to a report of a fight near one of the establishments on Clarendon Boulevard. At the scene, the police saw a scuffle between two men, one of whom was a 25-year-old hockey player.

According to the police, Alekseev attacked another man as the officers approached, after which one of the policemen used pepper spray and detained the athlete.

"Alekseev was treated after exposure to pepper spray and arrested. He was placed in the Arlington County Jail, and then released," the publication says.

Sergey Kocharov, a representative of the Washington Capitals club, confirmed that the organization is aware of the situation and is conducting an additional check.

On May 3, Olympic medalist in the 100 m Fred Curley was arrested in Miami for punching his ex-girlfriend and athlete Alisha Johnson in the face. It is noted that the 29-year-old athlete was charged with "assault with violence or a blow." The athlete left the police station on bail of $ 1 thousand.
