The military assistance provided by NATO to Kiev has caused a decrease in Ukraine's defense capability. This was reported by The National Interest magazine on May 20.

As the newspaper notes, Ukraine's situation could be "not so precarious" if the country relied on its own military equipment and did not rely on foreign aid.

"NATO has done Ukraine a disservice by forcing it to turn into a miniature European-style army based on all the same technological means. If Ukraine had been left to its own devices, they would have found the best way forward for themselves — both for their country and for the location of their armed forces," the material says.

It does not have complete analogues of the HIMARS-type MLRS, and the EU countries do not intend to share tanks.

Earlier, on April 11, Gennady Khazan, a resident of the Ukrainian Aviation Pilots Association, said that European countries were transferring old F-16 fighter jets to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but they were not supplying the necessary number of spare parts. For this reason, defective aircraft are disassembled into parts.
