A series of earthquakes with a magnitude of up to 5.3 was recorded near the Kermadec archipelago

A series of earthquakes were recorded off the coast of the Kermadec archipelago belonging to New Zealand, their magnitude reached 5.3. This was reported on May 19 by the State Geological Bureau of Australia.

It is specified that the source of the strongest seismic event was at a depth of 34 km. The epicenters of the remaining earthquakes were located at a depth of 30 to 60 km, 260 km from the main island of the Raoul archipelago and 800 km northeast of Auckland, New Zealand's largest city with a population of over 1.5 million people.
