Maduro welcomed the telephone conversations between Putin and Trump

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro welcomes the dialogue between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American Leader Donald Trump. This was announced on May 20 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Ivan Gil Pinto.

"The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, welcomes the dialogue that took place between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, during which they discussed the start of the implementation of a plan to achieve peace in Ukraine," the Venezuelan Foreign Minister wrote on the Telegram channel.

He noted that Maduro regarded the telephone conversations as a starting point from which the development of a just and lasting peace architecture can begin, which will guarantee comprehensive security for the Russian Federation and lay the foundations for international coexistence of states.

At the same time, Moscow and Washington are discussing a meeting between the two presidents on how the dialogue on conflict resolution will develop.

The talks between Putin and Trump ended on May 19, they lasted about two hours. The Russian president praised the conversation, calling it informative and useful. He also noted that Moscow and Kiev need to show maximum desire for peace, as well as start searching for compromises.
