Trump announced the progress made in resolving the conflict in Ukraine

After a telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump said that progress had been made in resolving the Ukrainian conflict.

"I talked with Putin, and it seems to me that some progress has been made," he said during a speech at the White House.

Trump also added that the leaders had held talks with the heads of most European states.

Putin said he had a meaningful and useful telephone conversation with Trump on May 19. The conversation between the two leaders lasted more than two hours. During the meeting, Putin expressed gratitude for the US participation in the resumption of direct talks between Russia and Ukraine. At the moment, the task between the leaders of the countries is to determine the most "effective ways to move towards peace."
