Putin spoke about choosing a name for the Sirius educational center

The Sirius Educational Center, which opened on the Black Sea coast in 2014 for talented Russian youth, was named after the brightest star in the sky. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on May 19.
"About how the name itself came to mind: I asked my assistants to name me the brightest star in the sky — Sirius," he said during his conversation with students and teachers of the music school of the same name at the educational center.
Putin explained that gifted young people, teenagers and children gather on the territory of the educational center, with whom qualified teachers work to unlock their potential and talents.
The Russian President stressed that the main idea of creating this educational center was to continue the country's Olympic legacy. He noted that this goal had been achieved, and also wished the young people to conquer new heights within the walls of Sirius.
Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that both technological breakthroughs and triumphs in the field of sports and art are important to Russia. In addition, the Russian leader noted that the integration of the Sirius educational center into the implementation of national tasks is of key importance for the development of the whole country.
