- A veterinarian examined a moose that had been lying for two days without help after an accident in the Moscow region

A moose that was hit by a car in the Istra district of the Moscow region a few days ago has been examined, and is now being transported to Losiny Ostrov for assistance. Andrey Samoilov, a leading veterinarian at the Istra Veterinary Station, told Izvestia on May 19.
"The animal has been clinically examined. Damage to the posterior pelvic limbs is visible. Now it has been decided to sedate the animal with special drugs, load and transport it to the Losiny Ostrov National Park, where it will receive veterinary care," he shared.
The specialist clarified that the rehabilitation of the moose will last from 14 to 21 days, depending on the condition of the animal. Also, as part of the treatment, a consultation of veterinarians will be held to give an accurate diagnosis and verdict on the loss of sensitivity of the hind limbs.
The press service of the prosecutor's office of the Moscow region reported that the work of the services after not providing assistance to the injured animal will be checked.
"The Istra City Prosecutor's office will establish all the circumstances of the incident and, in case of violations of the requirements of the legislation on wildlife, including by responsible officials, will take exhaustive measures," the department's Telegram channel noted.
On May 19, a correspondent for Izvestia reported that a moose was shot down in the Istra district of the Moscow region, after which the animal lay for two days near the village of Pavlovskaya Sloboda in an immobile state. At the same time, the driver who hit the animal did not escape from the scene of the accident and waited for the traffic police. Then the man was given a fine, and he left.
