- An excavator operator was sentenced for the death of a farm worker in the Tula region

A court in the Tula region has sentenced an excavator driver who caused the death of a worker on a farm. This is reported by the joint press service of the courts and the office of the judicial Department of the region.
The tragedy occurred on January 22, 2025, on the territory of a farm in the village of Holtobino, Novomoskovsky district. It was established that the excavator operator was asked to pour concrete into a 3 m deep excavation dug under the foundation for the cowshed. One of the handymen went down into the pit to evenly distribute the poured solution.
"An eyelet on the bucket of the excavator's reverse shovel ruptured, and a concrete bucket with a tray suspended from it collapsed onto a worker at the bottom of the excavation," the report says.
As TSN24 notes, the injuries sustained by the worker turned out to be incompatible with life. The man died on the spot.
The court found the excavator operator guilty under Part 2 of Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of safety rules during construction work, resulting in the death of a person by negligence") and sentenced him to two years of probation. He has also been banned from driving self-propelled vehicles for two years.
