In the Tula region, the investigation of a criminal case on a fire in a sauna has been completed, as a result of which two men were killed and three more people were injured. This was announced by the SU IC of Russia for the region on Monday, May 19.
The fire occurred on the night of September 2, 2024 in a public bathhouse in the village of Supon, Uzlovsky district. Two men died from carbon monoxide poisoning, three more vacationers, trying to escape, jumped out of a second-floor window and received various injuries.
According to investigators, the visitors were unable to evacuate in time due to the lack of a fire safety system in the institution. The owner of the bathhouse was charged under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Rendering services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of two people by negligence," TSN24 writes.
The investigation of the criminal case has been completed, and the materials will be submitted to the court for consideration on the merits in the near future. The maximum sanction of this article provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment.
