Spanish Prime Minister accuses Eurovision of double standards

Israel's participation in the European Eurovision Song Contest points to the double standards of the organizers. This was announced on May 19 by the head of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez.
The politician recalled that Russia was suspended from participating in the competition after the start of the special operation.
"Therefore, Israel should not do this either (participate in Eurovision — Ed.)," Sanchez stressed, quoted by the newspaper El Pais.
The Spanish Prime Minister called for avoiding double standards "even in culture."
Austrian singer Johannes Pitch won the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 on May 18 with the song Wasted Love, scoring 436 points. Yuval Raphael from Israel took the second place with the ballad New Day Will Rise, while Tommy Cash from Estonia took the third place with the song Espresso Macchiato.
Earlier, on February 21, the media reported that the Italian consumer protection organization Codacons demanded a boycott of Tommy Cash's Espresso Macchiato song at the Eurovision 2025 contest. It is reported that the Estonian performer is "insulted by a lot of people," in connection with which the association asked the organizers of the contest to ban Espresso Macchiato.
