- A 1939 mortar shell was found in the garbage chute of a Moscow high-rise building.

A 1939 military shell was found in the garbage chute of a multi-storey building on Novorogorskaya Street in Moscow. This was reported on May 19 by a source of Izvestia.
"On May 18, residents reported smoke in the garbage chute. Firefighters responded to the call and found a mortar shell of the 1939 model on the sixth floor," the source explained.
According to the source, the fuse and detonator were missing.
Firefighters evacuated 20 residents from the fifth to the seventh floor. The shell was handed over to the sappers for examination. An inspection is currently underway.
On April 16, it became known that in the Kaliningrad region, the sappers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations found ammunition from the Great Patriotic War (WWII). It was noted that experts found five artillery shells, two mines, and one wartime fuse near the village of Pavlovo.
