Regions with a high level of inventive activity are named

The leaders in submitting applications for inventions in 2024 are Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Moscow Region. This follows from Rospatent's data, which was reviewed by Izvestia on May 20.

The top 10 also includes the Republic of Tatarstan, the Sverdlovsk Region, the Krasnodar Territory, the Novosibirsk Region, the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Samara and Voronezh regions. Experts explained the high level of inventive activity in these regions by the presence of large scientific and industrial centers, universities and research organizations.

Applications for medical technologies (2,643 applications), measurement technologies (1,559), and special machines (1,496) are among the popular areas among developers in these regions of the Russian Federation.

"The development of intellectual property and the innovative activity of the regions is a priority of Russia's state policy. Working mechanisms are being created to stimulate the patent activity of developers and commercialize the results of their activities. Special attention is paid to critical industries. Rospatent analyzes the relevant indicators in order to establish effective cooperation with the regions, determine where support is needed and in which areas breakthrough technologies can be expected," said Yuri Zubov, head of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property.

Earlier, on April 24, Zubov said that Rospatent had received 4.4 thousand applications for registration of patents for inventions since the beginning of the year. The indicator increased by 2.5%. Government research institutes and individual entrepreneurs showed the highest activity from January to March.
