- The Russian Embassy announced Romania's anti-Russian course after the presidential election

Romania will continue to adhere to the anti-Russian course after the victory of Bucharest Mayor Nicusor Dan in the presidential election. This was announced on May 19 by the Russian Ambassador to Bucharest, Vladimir Lipaev.
It is specified that relations between Romania and Russia will remain at the same level.
"With a high degree of probability, everything will remain the same. Because there has been no change of political elites, in fact the same ruling group has remained in power, only the actors have changed," Lipaev said on the Rossiya 24 TV channel.
He noted that Romania will continue to adhere to the anti-Russian course and will continue to support Ukraine.
"It will follow in line with the foreign policy guidelines that will be developed in Washington or Brussels," the ambassador concluded.
He added that the new Romanian authorities are not interested in changing their foreign policy course. In addition, they do not have the opportunity to change course due to their obligations to the European Union (EU) and NATO.
On May 18, the country's Central Election Commission announced the victory of Bucharest Mayor and ruling party candidate Nicusor Dan in the second round of the Romanian presidential election after counting 99% of the ballots. According to calculations, Dan has more than 54% of the votes. It is specified that he addressed the voters, saying that his victory belongs to his fellow citizens.
