The expert spoke about ways to protect finances from fraudsters

In the modern world, scammers are constantly improving the methods of illegally gaining access to other people's funds. Alexey Lashko, a financial expert and head of the Assistance Group, told Izvestia on May 19 about the safety rules that must be followed to prevent financial losses.
"Strictly protect your personal data: passport details, bank card information, secret codes and passwords. Legitimate representatives of financial organizations and government agencies never request such information by phone or in correspondence," he said.
When you receive a call from a suspected bank employee reporting suspicious activity on your account, you should end the conversation and then contact the bank using the official support number, Lashko said.
The expert also added that it is important to be concerned about security when working with web resources. To do this, he recommended that you always verify the authenticity of an Internet page before entering confidential information on it.
In addition, Lashko advised to diversify financial instruments and include notifications about card transactions.
"Allocate a special card with a limited balance exclusively for online purchases. This will significantly reduce the risks in case of data compromise. Activate the instant notification system for all transactions. This will ensure early detection of unauthorized write—offs and the ability to respond quickly," he said.
The expert recommended critically evaluating investment options and monitoring information about new fraud methods.
"Be wary of offers of high returns without risks. Such schemes often turn out to be pyramid schemes or other types of fraud. Carefully analyze the information before investing money. Constantly monitor information about the latest fraud schemes and share your knowledge with your loved ones. Awareness significantly reduces the risk of becoming a victim of deception," he concluded.
May 14 Director of Communications of the cryptocurrency exchange exmo.me Mikhail Smirnov told Izvestia about fraud against the background of an unstable cryptocurrency exchange rate. Fake websites and applications of popular exchanges and wallets remain one of the most common but evolving schemes. The peculiarity of modern phishing is its complexity: fraudsters create websites with valid SSL certificates and addresses that are visually indistinguishable from the original, he noted.
