The nutritionist warned about the consequences of frequent consumption of tea.

Frequent consumption of matcha tea can cause overexcitability and an attack of hypertension, especially in people with unstable blood pressure. The risks arise due to the large amount of caffeine in this drink, nutritionist Rimma Moisenko told Izvestia on May 19.
"[Tea] can make a big jump in blood pressure for people with a hypotonic crisis, with a hypotonic state. And this jump may be unexpected for a person and may result in an attack of severe hypertension, [especially] in that category of people whose blood pressure is generally unstable and reacts sharply to both situations in life and to some medications," she explained.
According to the expert, matcha is generally a healthy drink for healthy people: it contains a lot of antioxidants, amino acids and proteins, can maintain normal blood pressure, helps to resist various diseases and creates a feeling of vivacity. However, Moisenko stressed, it should not be abused.
"People with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract are also not recommended to [match], especially those categories of people who have an exacerbation of chronic diseases. For example, exacerbation of gastritis, duodenitis, cholecystitis. It (matcha tea — Ed.) stimulates the gallbladder, provides a strong release of bile into the duodenum and can increase pain," she said.
For people who feel changes in their body from matcha, the nutritionist recommended limiting themselves to one cup of tea a day. Others may have more, but you need to monitor blood pressure and the digestive tract.
On November 16, 2024, Julia Vereina, an endocrinologist at the SM Clinic, spoke about the effects of excessive tea consumption on the body. As the expert noted, its excess can disrupt the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) due to a substance called "tannin". It can affect the microflora of the stomach, causing discomfort or pain after eating.
