In Russia, the introduction of the status of a foreign agent is a mirror measure, as well as a way to protect the sovereignty of the country. This was announced on May 19 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, at the session of the XIII St. Petersburg International Legal Forum "Institute of a Foreign Agent. According to her, this status is a retaliatory protective measure, specially developed taking into account international experience. In addition, this measure is not intended to discriminate against people based on political criteria.
