Vasily Tsereteli appointed President of the Russian Academy of Arts

Vasily Tsereteli has become the new president of the Russian Academy of Arts. This was reported on May 19 in the press service of the Russian Academy of Arts.

"Vasily Tsereteli was elected president of the Russian Academy of Sciences," the source told TASS.

It is specified that now his candidacy must be approved by the government of the Russian Federation.

The President of the Russian Academy of Arts considered both Russia and Georgia to be his homeland.

Muralist and sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, who was the previous President of the Republic of Armenia, died on April 22 at the age of 92. He died in his workshop at home. He was buried on April 26 in the Didubian Pantheon in Tbilisi.

Vasily Tsereteli shared with Izvestia on April 24 that his grandfather had given people a huge treasure in the form of works of art. In addition, Tsereteli Sr. worked and did everything for the benefit of humanity to the last.

On April 29, Vasily Tsereteli was appointed Acting President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and he was elected at a meeting of the Academy's presidium.
