Cross-border cooperation was discussed as part of the Russia–China Business Dialogue. The event took place at the Russian-Chinese Forum, which is taking place in Khabarovsk on May 19-20.

During the discussion, the participants discussed issues related to the trade and economic policy of the Khabarovsk Territory, the investment environment in the region and the development of practical business cooperation.

"Over the past 15 years, China has been Russia's first trading partner. Chinese entrepreneurs in Russia actively participate in various events, including at today's Forum in Khabarovsk, we are discussing current issues. Khabarovsk Territory is a border region rich in natural resources. He established twinning relations with a number of Chinese cities and was able to attract many investors from China," said Zhou Lijun, Chairman of the Union of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Russia.

The session also discussed possible mechanisms for the creation of joint ventures, the exchange of investment experience, construction projects and cooperation between the two countries at the regional level.

"It is important for us to start preparing for the creation of a new instrument proposed by the Russian Government, namely, the International Territory of Advanced Development (MTOR), which will give significant preferences to economic cooperation. We expect that the first place where the new regime will operate will be Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island. In addition, the construction of the checkpoint will make it possible to quickly resolve issues of international cooperation. Today we are talking about 1.5 million tourists and 1.3 million cargoes per year, these figures seem absolutely realistic," said Sergey Abramov, First Deputy Chairman of the Khabarovsk Territory Government.

Experts drew attention to the need for accelerated digitalization of the economies of both countries, a steady increase in the number of Chinese entrepreneurs in Russia and the expansion of bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

"Development is the main principle of Russian-Chinese cooperation. Thanks to digitalization, trade between Russia and China can become better and faster. And if we determine the directions for the development of our cooperation in the future, we plan to use all our capabilities to make digital trade without borders more efficient and smarter," said Sun Tianshu, Chairman of Qifa Group.

The theme of the Russian-Chinese forum is "Bolshoy Ussuriysky: cooperation in the joint development of the island." Its program includes more than 30 themed venues, cultural and sporting events. More than three thousand applications for participation were received from representatives of business, government authorities and creative industries from Russia and China.
