Hongqi has shared new details about the brand's first SUV, which was unveiled in April at the Shanghai Auto Show as a concept car. The luxury model, which has no name yet, is scheduled to enter the market in 2026. This is stated in the message of the brand's press service, which was received by Izvestia on May 19. The company separately stressed that such cars are in demand in Russia.
The model is equipped with four electric motors of its own design — one for each wheel. The SUV is expected to accelerate to 100 km/h in 4 seconds. The car's frame structure. The exterior of the Off-road concept is inspired by elements of ancient Chinese architecture. Its design contains references to classical construction techniques, for example, to the "grooved-stud joint" typical of Chinese wooden structures, the company said. The massive radiator grille with a rectangular grid is complemented by round LED headlights, symbolizing the "round sky and square earth." There is a traditional Hongqi red stripe on the hood.
The side of the body is characterized by a square shape, extended wheel arches, retro aluminum wheels with off-road tires. The off-road capabilities of the model are designed to emphasize the unpainted wings, side stairs and an expedition roof rack. The rear part is designed in the style of a "small backpack" with vertically positioned lights and a trunk door that opens sideways.
On April 23, it was reported that the Hongqi L1 luxury sedan will appear in Russia in the fall. The car is currently undergoing certification.
