A court in Moscow sentenced Moshe, a Briton, to six years in absentia for mercenary activities in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Moscow City Court sentenced in absentia British Ariel Moshe, who fought on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), to six years in a penal colony for mercenary activities. This was reported to Izvestia on May 19 in court.

It is specified that the foreign citizen was a member of the international Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine. He left the territory of this country after the Russian military struck the Yavoriv military training ground in the Lviv region in March 2022.

On April 4, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) sentenced Joseph Philip McDonald, a British mercenary who fought on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to imprisonment in absentia. He was found guilty under Part 3 of Article 359 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Participation of a mercenary in an armed conflict"). It was established that he was in the combat zone in the conflict from March 2022 to January 2025 and received a reward in excess of 2.1 million rubles. The person involved is currently wanted.
