A new law on tourism will be adopted in Kamchatka

Kamchatka lawmakers are preparing a new law on tourism. The Regional Legislative Assembly will consider in the second reading the law "On certain issues in the field of tourism in the Kamchatka Territory." It is aimed at improving the regulation of tourism activities in the region.
A similar initiative was made by the chairman of the Legislative Assembly Irina Untilova. The draft law was developed in accordance with the federal law "On the Basics of Tourism Activities in Russia." The goal is to bring regional legislation in line with modern realities and requirements, and create favorable conditions for the development of the tourism industry in Kamchatka.
According to Untilova, quoted by KamchatkaMedia news agency, in recent years this branch of the economy has developed rapidly. In this regard, it is necessary to bring many aspects into line with the federal law. In particular, the new draft law defines the main tasks in the field of regional tourism. We are talking about creating a modern tourism industry, its development, rational use, increasing the flow of tourists and ensuring their safety.
In addition, the bill defines the priority areas of tourism in Kamchatka. These are social, children's, youth, rural, ecological and amateur tourism.
The powers of the regional authorities to create favorable conditions for the development of tourism are being delimited. The directions of state support for this industry and its information support are determined.
The bill is due to be adopted at the 48th session on May 27, 2025.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian tourist market is experiencing an increase in the length of travelers' holidays, as well as an increase in the popularity of apartments and an increase in demand for advance travel planning. This follows from the data of the online booking service for hotels and apartments "Ostrov". The first steady trend is the expansion of the geography of independent travel for Russians. Thus, despite the remoteness of these regions and the high cost of flights, the popularity of accommodation bookings in Kamchatka, Baikal, Sakhalin and the Murmansk Region has increased significantly. During the year, domestic tourist demand for these destinations increased by about 20%.
