Kamchatka's energy sector is ready for floods

In Kamchatka, the specialists of PJSC Kamchatkenergo, part of the RusHydro Group, have developed a set of measures to ensure uninterrupted operation of power plants, boilers and power grid facilities during spring floods.
The flood commission, headed by Chief Engineer Vladislav Skvortsov, coordinates the work of power engineers. She will work in close cooperation with the departments of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region and the Kamchatka UGMS.
Before the flood, the region held unscheduled briefings for repairmen, checked the condition of the foundations of the pillars that stand in the floodplain of the rivers, developed a schedule for checking the condition of high-voltage power lines, and formed an emergency reserve of materials to eliminate possible emergencies. In addition, experts have compiled a list of power grid facilities that are located in high-risk areas.
Until the flood is over, monitoring of the water level and the condition of poles standing in areas of possible flooding will continue in the region. After the flood period is over, specialists will inspect all structures, buildings and equipment trapped in the flood zone, the KamchatkaMedia news agency writes.
Earlier, on May 15, it was reported that an emergency regime was introduced in the city of Abaza in the south of Khakassia, where flooding began due to rising water levels in the Abakan River. Due to the situation, the dacha societies were at risk.
