By the end of June 2025, China plans to conduct a test flight of the Jiu Tian SS ("Sky High") drone carrier which can carry and launch up to 100 barrage munitions or small drones. This was reported on May 19 by the South China Morning Post.

The Chinese "Jiu Tian" unmanned carrier will embark on its first mission by the end of June, laying the foundation for expanding the operational range of the Chinese Air Force in unmanned aerial combat," the material says.

It is reported that in case of a successful flight, a series of other tests will follow, after which the drone carrier can enter service with the country.

The maximum flight range of the device is 7 thousand km, the altitude is 15 thousand m. At the same time, it is able to move above the affected area of most modern medium—range air defense systems. The Jiu Tian can carry up to 6 tons of cargo or small UAVs, including kamikaze drones, the publication says.

Earlier, on April 2, the People's Liberation Army of China began large-scale military exercises off the island of Taiwan. On them, Chinese military personnel practice obtaining comprehensive control, blocking key routes and areas, as well as strikes against sea and land targets.
