Lvova-Belova helped a girl from Ukraine to reunite with her mother in Russia

The girl, who lives in Ukraine, returned to her mother in Russia with the help of Maria Lvova-Belova, the Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights, and Qatar's mediation. The ombudsman informed reporters about this on May 19.
"On behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, we continue our work to reunite children with their loved ones in Russia, Ukraine and other countries. This time, a 17-year—old daughter came from Ukraine to Russia to visit her mother with our assistance," she said.
Lvova-Belova clarified that the girl and her older sister lived in Ukraine, and her mother went to Russia for personal reasons. In 2023, the father and his daughters moved to Odessa, and in 2024 he died. After that, the 17-year-old girl wanted to reunite with her mother.
The Ombudsman noted Qatar's assistance in returning the teenager. She said that the state helped in negotiations with the Ukrainian side and organized the relocation.
"The International Committee of the Red Cross and representatives of relevant agencies helped," Lvova-Belova added.
On March 28, the Russian Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights announced that another boy had been returned to Russia from Ukraine through the mediation of Qatar: a 17-year-old boy named Ruslan had come to visit his grandmother.
