A court in Udmurtia sentenced a resident of the Glazovsky district to six years in a penal colony in the case of the murder of a 16-year-old schoolgirl. This was announced on May 19 by the joint press service of the courts of the republic.

It is specified that on April 26, 2024, a schoolgirl disappeared in Glazov. Her body with signs of violent death was found 12 days later. The court found that the defendant, who was 17 years old at the time, while with the girl in his mother's bath, strangled her with a charger cord during the conflict. After the murder, he buried the body by the river.

The young man was found guilty under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder").

"At the hearing, the defendant pleaded not guilty," the press service's Telegram channel said.

The court took into account the circumstances of the case, the minor of the perpetrator, his active assistance to the investigation and confessions, as well as the absence of aggravating circumstances, appointing six years in prison. He will serve his sentence in a penal colony.

On March 29, the Investigative Committee reported that the body of a 13-year-old girl who disappeared on March 21 near the village of Ryazanovo was found in a wooded area near the Rucheek farm in the Kalininsky Municipal District with signs of violent death. The suspect in the commission of the crime was detained. He turned out to be a 34-year-old resident of the Kalininsky municipal district. He was detained until May 22.
