The Russian-Chinese Forum has started in Khabarovsk

The opening ceremony of the Russian-Chinese Forum took place on Komsomolskaya Square in Khabarovsk. It was attended by Dmitry Demeshin, Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, and Jiang Xiaoyang, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Khabarovsk.

​"The Khabarovsk Territory has historically become a territory of strong cooperation between Russia and China. We see how our economic ties are strengthening every year, trade relations are expanding, and joint projects in industry, energy, and transport are being implemented. It is here, in the Russian Far East, that we are setting new standards for international cooperation. Our companies successfully work together, creating modern production facilities, innovative technologies and jobs. We are building bridges not only literally, but also figuratively – bridges of trust, mutual understanding and prosperity," Dmitry Demeshin emphasized.

​Jiang Xiaoyang also addressed the Forum participants.

​"The forum is being held as a platform for implementing the decisions reached after the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping last year. Khabarovsk Krai is a major logistics, industrial, scientific and technical center in the Russian Far East. We have broad prospects for cooperation. The forum shows how much attention is paid to friendship and cooperation between Russia and China. This is an important step in the development of mutual understanding between the two countries. The content of the event is very rich. It is very promising to discuss cooperation in the development of Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island. This issue is receiving great attention in Russia and China. I wish success to the Forum," the Consul said.

​As part of the ceremony, soloist of the Khabarovsk Regional Academic Musical Theater Hripsime Sehleyan and Chinese students of the Khabarovsk State Institute of Culture performed the vocal and choreographic number "Live My Country", and a concert was also held with the participation of Russian and Chinese artists.

​The theme of the Russian-Chinese forum is "Bolshoy Ussuriysky: cooperation in the joint development of the island." Its program includes more than 30 themed venues, cultural and sporting events. More than three thousand applications were received for participation in the forum from representatives of business, government authorities and creative industries from Russia and China.

​The main events will be held at the Officers' House of the Eastern Military District. Among the key sessions is "Russian-Chinese Industrial Cooperation: Current trends and current challenges" (May 19, 10:00 – 11:30), " Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island: a new vector for the development of cross-border cooperation" (May 19, 11:45 – 13:15), " Industrial parks: a platform for cooperation Russia and China" (May 19, 11:45 – 13:15), " Made in Russia. Expanding the Horizons of Trade and Economic Partnership" (May 19, 11:45 – 13:15), " Bridges of Friendship: Cooperation between Russia and China in Tourism" (May 19, 14:00 – 15:30), " Linguistics and Intercultural Communication: a Cross-border aspect" (May 19, 14:00-15:30). A Russia–China business dialogue is also planned (May 19, 14:00 – 15:30).

The central event will be the plenary session "Russia and China: Joining Forces for Common Prosperity" (May 19, 16:00 – 18:00). The broadcast of the events will be available on the forum's website.

Chinese circus performers, the Wuqiao acrobatic group from Beijing, are scheduled to perform as part of the cultural program of the Forum, and the Two Shores – One Amur festival will be held. The traditional regional festival-fair "AmurFest. Spring", and there is also a thematic exhibition at the Far Eastern Art Museum.
