The legends of the CSKA Moscow football club have won a gala match dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the triumph in the European Cup. This was reported by Izvestia on May 19.

The stars of the team that brought pride to the country in 2005 and the national team of European clubs met on the field.

The match started with active attacks, and Allan Dzagoev from CSKA opened the scoring by converting a penalty after a beautiful shot from his teammate Milos Krasic. Wagner Love scored a hat-trick, and Didier Drogba scored the only goal. The match ended with a score of 5:1 in favor of CSKA.

"I am glad to be here and participate in the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the victory of CSKA Moscow. We can see that they still have good possession of the ball," Drogba said.

In honor of the anniversary, Sport-Express released a documentary about the club, where the finalists share their memories. Valery Gazzaev, the head coach of CSKA in 2005, said that no one had set the team the task of winning the UEFA Cup. The path to victory was not easy, but FC overcame all obstacles, including such strong clubs as Benfica and Parma.

"We understood that if we are capable of such a thing, why don't we go as far as possible," said Sergey Ignashevich, an ex—CSKA football player and winner of the 2005 UEFA Cup.

Also in the film, viewers will be able to see how the club has changed and what difficulties the players and coaches have faced.

"That story shows that once upon a time we could prove there and show that Russia is also a football country," said Vitaly Airapetov, editor of the film and a journalist with Sport Express.

On May 14, CSKA beat Zenit St. Petersburg with a score of 2:0. After the victory, the Muscovites reached the Superfinal of the Russian Football Cup. Matvey Kislyak (in the 37th minute) and Tamerlan Musaev (in the 90th+2nd minute) scored for the Army team. In the 45th minute at the end of the first half, Ivan Oblyakov failed to score from the penalty spot.
