A man who committed the murder of an acquaintance in order to take over his apartment in Moscow has confessed. This was reported on May 19 in the press service of the Main Investigative Directorate (GSU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation in the capital.

"A criminal case is being investigated against a native of the Ulyanovsk region, accused of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder")," follows from a publication on the Telegram channel.

The agency reports that during the interrogation, the defendant testified about the crime. He said that he struck 15 blows with an axe to an acquaintance from whom he rented a room in order to seize his property. In addition, the attacker filmed his actions on a phone camera.

According to the press service of the capital's Investigative Committee, the man dismembered the victim's body, put the parts in two bags and took them to inconspicuous places. Forensic examinations were ordered in the criminal case. In addition, investigators continue to collect evidence.

On May 18, bags with the dismembered body of a man were found in the northeast of Moscow. One of them was found near an apartment building on Zapovednaya Street, the second in the Yauza park area on Menzhinsky Street. The suspect was detained and taken to a law enforcement unit.
