US President Donald Trump has announced his intention to initiate an investigation into alleged illegal payments that the Democratic candidate for last year's presidential election, Kamala Harris, made to celebrities during her election campaign.

"How much Kamala Harris paid [American singer] Bruce Springsteen for his poor performance during her election campaign before the presidential election. Why did he accept the money if he's such an ardent fan of hers? Isn't this considered an illegal campaign contribution?" Trump wrote on May 19 on his page on the Truth Social network.

He also mentioned singer Beyonce, TV presenter Oprah Winfrey and musician Bono, adding that he intends to call for a detailed investigation. He stressed that candidates are prohibited from paying for support, as, in his opinion, Harris did by issuing payments for entertainment.

The election of the 47th President of the United States took place on November 5. In the popular vote, Trump received 51% of the vote, while Harris received 47.4%. The results of the vote were met with a prolonged ovation at the Trump campaign headquarters. Speaking to supporters, the Republican said that he considers ending military conflicts in the world to be his goal as head of state.
