Four Novosibirsk residents were detained for illegal gambling


The police stopped the activities of three illegal gambling businesses in the Central, Zaeltsovsky and Oktyabrsky districts of Novosibirsk. This was announced on Sunday, May 19, by the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the region.
"During the searches, the police seized more than 100 units of gambling equipment, as well as cash in the amount of more than 300 thousand rubles," the agency said in a statement on the Telegram channel.
It is specified that the organizers of illegal businesses were two girls and two men aged from 29 to 39 years. They played the roles of administrators and security guards of gambling organizations. At the same time, two of them saw police officers approaching and tried to escape, but were arrested anyway.
A criminal case has been opened against four defendants on the fact of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 171.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Illegal organization and conduct of gambling by a group of persons"). The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the detained suspect is being resolved.
On April 19, six people were convicted in Novosibirsk for illegally organizing and conducting gambling. In the period from December 1, 2021 to February 4, 2022, the accomplices distributed the roles of organizers and croupiers and illegally held poker and roulette games in one of the premises of the city. The court sentenced the attackers to imprisonment suspended from 1.5 to two years with a similar probation period.
