A criminal case has been opened in Kalmykia after an accident with seven dead


A criminal case has been opened after a collision between a minibus and a truck in Kalmykia, which killed seven people and injured 12 others. This was reported on May 19 in the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia for the region.
"The necessary investigative actions are being carried out in the criminal case aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident. During the investigation, the technical documentation for the vehicle will be examined, as well as a number of forensic examinations, including a medical examination of the bus driver," the department's Telegram channel says.
It is reported that a criminal case has been initiated under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements, resulting in the death of two or more persons by negligence"). Representatives of the Investigative Committee appealed to the prosecutor's office with a request to transfer materials on the accident from the police for further investigation.
The Republican Prosecutor's Office, in turn, took control of the investigation of the accident. In its Telegram channel, the agency clarifies that law enforcement officers are checking compliance with the law when organizing passenger transportation.
A minibus collided with a truck in the Yustinsky district of Kalmykia earlier that day. The injured were hospitalized in the central regional hospital of the district.
