On May 19, the Russian-Chinese forum "Bolshoy Ussuriysky: cooperation in the joint development of the island" opened in Khabarovsk for the first time in history.

According to him, the theme of this year's forum is ecology. The Amur River and Bolshoy Ussuriysky Island are a unique ecosystem that it is important not to damage during cooperation, said Izvestia correspondent Evgeny Podtergera.

"On May 27, 1994, an agreement was signed on the reproduction and maintenance of aquatic biological resources. It was regulated by our friendly countries, and today we continue this tradition," said Dmitry Demeshin, Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory.

Demeshin, together with the Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Khabarovsk, Jiang Xiaoyang, released sturgeons into the river to renew biodiversity.

Podtergera added that dozens of meetings, sessions and document signings are taking place at the forum at the same time.

Earlier, on May 16, Deputy Mayor of Moscow Natalia Sergunina announced that the Moscow Seasons in Beijing festival would be held in the Chinese capital from June 12 to 15. It will be held as part of the cross-cultural years of Russia and China, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries.
