The Russian Defense Ministry shared the details of the liberation of Alexandropol in the DPR

During the liberation of the Alexandropol settlement in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), the military personnel of the Center group of forces conducted large-scale artillery training at the beginning of the operation. This was announced on Monday, May 19, by the Russian Defense Ministry.

It is specified that the Russian military entered the village on two armored personnel carriers, which the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) did not expect. The rapid landing of attack aircraft in the rear of the defense of the Ukrainian militants allowed them to shoot down their column.

Then the Russian military began to clean up, forcing the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of fortified positions and basements. During combat missions, the Russian military also used FPV drones and reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with drop systems. During the special operation, soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation destroyed several units of Ukrainian armored vehicles and pickups. As a result, the Ukrainian formations retreated.

The Defense Ministry stressed that the liberation of Alexandropol was made possible thanks to the coordinated work of artillery and assault units, as well as UAV operators providing support to the advancing infantry groups.

The battery's military personnel destroy dozens of targets every day, including enemy locations, equipment, and boats.

On May 17, soldiers of the 242nd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 20th Division of the 8th Army, as part of the Center group of forces, told Izvestia how the cleansing of the Alexandropol settlement in the DPR took place. The Center's attack aircraft were clearing basements and buildings under the cover of unmanned aerial vehicles. Two enemy FPV drones flew into one of the basements where the military managed to gain a foothold.

On the same day, Dmitry Borodavko, an attack aircraft trooper from the 242nd Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 20th Division of the 8th Army, as part of the Center group of forces, told how, during the cleansing of Alexandropol in the DPR, he had to engage in hand-to-hand combat with a Ukrainian militant in a trench.
