At least 67 people were detained in Makhachkala after mass conflicts between teenagers. This was announced on Sunday, May 18, by the press service of the Interior Ministry of the region.

"On May 16, during a verbal conflict between young residents of Makhachkala, a fight broke out, attracting the attention of passers-by. The police detained 12 people," the agency said in a message on its Telegram channel.

They clarified that the parties to the conflict were going to meet again the next day. Groups of teenagers began to gather in different areas of the city. The police detained at least 55 people, 18 of them were brought to administrative responsibility for minor hooliganism (Article 20.1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation).

The ministry noted that minors used social networks to coordinate their actions.

Earlier that day, the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia organized an investigation into reports of mass brawls among teenagers in Makhachkala. Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin instructed Dmitry Belyaev, head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Dagestan, to report on the progress of the verification measures and the circumstances of the incident to him personally. On the same day, the instigators of the conflict between the teenagers were detained.
