Parliamentarians will discuss legislative initiatives to improve the lives of their fighters at a meeting with Deputy Defense Minister Anna Tsivileva at the end of May. This was reported to Izvestia by Nina Ostanina, head of the Committee for the Protection of the Family, Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

Benefits for veterans should become one of the main measures of financial support. Today they amount to 4.5 thousand rubles per month, which, according to the deputies, does not reflect the contribution of the military to the security of the country.

"Our society should consolidate its position on the right of the authorities to allocate monthly funds to [veterans] for life, at least in the amount of the subsistence minimum. Even our pensioners receive more, but this money is also not enough," she said.

At the meeting with Deputy Minister Anna Tsivileva, it is also planned to discuss lowering the retirement age for SVO fighters and awarding women who support the military in the rear. Deputies from the regions can also submit their proposals.

Earlier, as part of a meeting with employees of the Defenders of the Fatherland State Fund, Russian President Vladimir Putin promised to introduce new benefits for participants in his organization.
