During negotiations in July 2024, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin set a goal to increase mutual trade turnover to $100 billion by 2030. Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar told Izvestia about this on Sunday, May 19.

"It is precisely because of the growth of bilateral trade over the past five years that the leaders of both countries have set a goal of reaching $100 billion by 2030. Our efforts are now focused on fulfilling this task," the Ambassador said.

According to Kumar, for this, it is necessary to resolve issues of market access, expand contacts between business circles and trading communities in industries capable of increasing exports and imports. New areas of cooperation are also being explored. In particular, the conclusion of a free trade agreement between India and the EAEU is being discussed.

"We hope that through these efforts we will be able to achieve our goal of $100 billion in the next five years," Vinay Kumar added.

Earlier, on April 29, Debjit Chakraborty, director of the joint Russian-Indian integrator RISING, told Izvestia that India is seeking cooperation with Russia in the field of technology, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. According to him, relations between India, Russia and the BRICS countries are an alliance made in heaven. Changes are coming to the global economy, especially in the technological sphere, and technology will become an integral part of trade.
