The transportation of red caviar in hand luggage and baggage should be completely prohibited. This was stated in an exclusive interview with Izvestia by the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergey Dankvert, answering a question about the results of an experiment to limit the export of salmon caviar weighing over 10 kg.

"During this experiment, we were involved in the process as a service that has a traceability system. No one knows exactly how much caviar was previously exported by humans. Since November 1, 2022, after the start of the experiment, the Service has monitored the transportation of 459.1 tons of salmon caviar by air passengers without manufacturer's labeling," said the head of the service.

According to him, the introduction of restrictions has now been proposed at the initiative of the governors of the Far Eastern regions.

"But personally, I think that the volume of these products that were allowed to be transported looks a bit strange. Can you imagine how much 10 kg is? If a person wants to eat caviar, he can buy it in a store or eat in these regions where it is obtained. And the criterion of 10 kg is incomprehensible to me," Sergei Dankvert said, adding that a complete ban on such transportation would be optimal.
