Corporal Dmitry Makovey had set up positions and firing points near the line of contact when he discovered the approach of an assault group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on Monday, May 19, reported on the exploits of Russian servicemen in the area of a special military operation (SVO).

Makovey promptly contacted the command and warned about the movement of the enemy nearby, after which he found a convenient firing position and opened fire on the enemy. The soldier successfully held off the onslaught of the Ukrainian Armed Forces until reinforcements arrived, and as a result, the assault group was defeated.

The Russian Defense Ministry also noted the professional actions and determination of Private Denis Ponomarev, who performed first aid tasks for wounded Russian servicemen as part of the evacuation group.

During the offensive, Russian units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine retreated and opened mortar fire on strong points that they could not defend. One of the Russian attack aircraft was wounded by shrapnel. Ponomarev immediately gave him first aid and moved him to a safe place. The victim needed to provide medical support until the shelling was over and it was possible to transport the victim to a hospital.
