In Syria, three law enforcement officers were killed in an explosion at a police station in the city of Al-Mayadin. This was reported by the SANA news agency on Sunday, May 18, with reference to the city administration.

"Initial investigations and an inspection of the scene showed that a car bomb exploded, killing three members of the general security service and injuring several others," Khalil Abdul—Moneim al-Ayub, the city's administrative director, told the media.

It is specified that two people were injured. An investigation has been launched into the explosion.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that an explosion near a military recruitment center in the Somali capital Mogadishu killed at least 11 people. The explosion was caused by a suicide bomber. It is clarified that the security forces managed to intercept the attacker before he could reach the alleged civilian target.
