The Ministry of Internal Affairs named the most common types of phishing resources

The most common types of phishing resources on the Internet are fake investment platforms, fake online stores and sex service sites. This was announced on May 18 by the Department for the Organization of the Fight against the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies (UBK) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in its Telegram channel.

The agency analyzed those phishing sites that have been targeted for blocking recently.

"The most 'popular' sites turned out to be investment fraud sites (39%) — fake platforms that manipulate victims by promising windfall returns on investments in cryptocurrencies, stocks or Forex," the statement said.

Also, attackers often create fake online stores, websites offering non-existent offers, resources with sex services, as well as selling tickets to non-existent events.

The agency recommended not to follow links from mail, SMS or messengers without verifying their authenticity, carefully check the URLs of sites, do not believe too profitable offers and get acquainted with reviews and the time of creation of Internet resources.

Earlier, on May 15, UBK told about a new scheme of fraud with letters from Google. The victim of such a scheme receives messages from a legitimate sender due to the opportunity provided by Google to create websites. However, emails from intruders lead the user to a phishing resource.
