Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU) poses a threat to Hungary. This was announced on May 18 by Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

"Today, Ukraine's membership in the EU is the biggest threat. The first battle has begun," Orban wrote on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).

According to the politician, Ukraine's accession to the EU cannot be allowed.

Earlier, on May 12, the former head of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in Donetsk, Matt Whatley, said that the accelerated admission of Ukraine to the EU could become a problem that would affect the budgetary structure of the community and jeopardize its unity.

According to Whatley, the words about Ukraine's early membership in the EU remain false promises, as it does not meet the criteria of the community itself.
