Swedish Westeros intends to approve the expropriation of the Orthodox Church

The Municipal Council of Swedish Westeros intends to approve the initiative of the local branch of the Moderate Coalition Party on the expropriation of the building of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) near the local airport. This was reported on May 18 by the SVT TV channel.

"We, as the majority, support this proposal. <...> We want to expropriate the Russian church," council Chairman Staffan Jansson told the channel.

The politician added that the expropriation plans correspond to the desire of the city council to expand the airport. According to SVT, the final decision on this issue will be made on May 21.

The moderate Coalition Party took the initiative to relocate the ROC representative office located next to the airport on April 26. Elisabeth Unel, the leader of the local branch of the party, said that in modern conditions it is necessary to remove the foreign representative office from the airport area, as it allegedly could pose a security threat.
